We are located on The Mesoamerican Barrier Reef – the 2nd largest reef system in the world! There are over 20 dive sites for all experience levels of divers. The crystal clear turquoise waters and colorful corals are amazing! Healthy colorful coral, huge schools of fish, and amazing sea life waiting to be seen. Depths range from 25-100+ ft (8-30 m). Dive sites include wrecks, drifts, reefs, and MUSA Underwater Museum. You can see turtles, rays, sharks, stonefish, bat fish, octopus, splendid toadfish, nudibranchs, eels, crabs, lobsters and so much more!

There are swimthroughs at several dive sites, and gentle to strong currents on the drift reefs. If you haven’t experienced the fun of drifting along the reef in an underwater current, or you have and love it like we do, there are dives for you! Some drift dives are appropriate for all Open Water Divers, within your depth limits. Some have gentle current (like La Bandera) which are great for beginner’s first drift. Some are stronger and slightly deeper (like Punta Negra and Grampin). We are in an excellent location for learning (with beautiful coral and abundant life), whether doing the Drift Adventure Dive for your PADI Advanced Open Water Certification or PADI Drift Specialty. We descend down in the current, careful to drop behind the walls to get relief from the flow, and then explore, take photos, until time for our ascent and safety stop. One of our favorites, Punta Sur, is a ripping ride around the Southern tip of the island. It’s awesome for experienced drift divers.

 Finally, for the Advanced Open Water Divers, at 80-100 ft (24-30 m) our C55 and C58 gunboat wrecks & our deep wreck. We often take Amalia (our dive boat) up current, enter as a group, and drift down to the wreck. In the winter, fevers (yes, a group of rays is a called a fever) of eagle rays take up residence, gliding silently overhead. Open Water Divers can experience these sites with an Instructor and complete your Deep Adventure Dive towards the PADI Advanced Open Water certification.
